OK for the Basics

I shoot mainly high school sports, and bought the camera for the high fps and the autofocus system, I'm a fan of the Snapshots to Great Shots series was hoping for more in-depth info into the AF cases and how/when to use/customize the AF cases - but there is only one page of content on this topic.

This book was more of a "just the basics" approach, and anyone who suggest shooting action in AV mode (you set the aperture where your camera decides the shutter speed) will pretty much cause me to loose interest as your choice in shutter speed determines whether or not you freeze/blur action. With this camera you can set the shutter speed/aperture in manual mode to freeze action and max out the aperture and use auto ISO plus exposure compensation to better control the challenging lighting situations of outdoor sports - it's clean enough for my needs up to ISO 3200, and usable with NR up to ISO 10000.

Entry Level Guide

Expected some advance discussion here. This book was written for someone who got a 7D Mark II as their first camera. Did not at all go into advanced features of this camera like multi-exposure like I was seeking. The first Snap Shot book I order on my earlier 60D was written much better.

I am not even sure how to describe this book. It is not an in depth study of the 7D Mark-II. But it does reference some of the 7D Mark-II settings. It goes into a lot of general photography but not in depth. It is an OK book but you will not learn to use the 7D Mark-II from this book.

A Key to our Treasure of Evangelical Hymns

This broad collection of evangelical hymns contains the heart of the gospel heritage from Ira D. Sankey and his contemporaries. These were the songs we sung from in my youth, and they still are a key to the treasure of simple hymns which are known to most active Protestant Christians, be it in the States, in the UK, in Norway (my country) or in Burundi an Camerun: we all gather in essential prayers like "Lord Jesus, I long to be perfectly whole" (no. 35). The harmonies were as wide-spread as the tunes, and by 1920 they had reached almost all Christian churches in Norway, from the Methodists' "The Harp of Zion" (1875) and the teacher Bjærum's "The Pilgrim's Harp" (1877) to the united Lutheran Missions' "The Songbook: Praise the Lord" (1928). A lot of good Christian songs have been written before and after, but no one are warmer and more pleading than those of Sankey's collection: "What a friend we have in Jesus", "Come sing the gospel's joyful sound", "Rescue the perishing". The popular poems by Fanny Crosby met a large public in Europe through Sankey's non-commercial edition: The battle about copyright and royalties was to come when the gospel preaching declined some decades later. The tunes by P. P. Bliss, W. H. Doane, Robert Lowry and James McGranahan are numerous, and these beatiful songs still have the power to touch the assemblies when well sung. - This edition of the "Sacred Songs and Solos" is printed in London at the end of the 19th century, and it contains 750 pieces. It contains not only "modern" Evangelical American but also contemorary British songs, for instance texts by Frances Havergal and Horatio Bonar, and an appendix of more general Anglican hymns.

The old Songs and Solos have 1200 songs. Though the message indicates that some songs have been added, there are less than 800 songs in both the kindle version I down loaded and in the book I presented to Dr. Albert Johnson.

Rented this and it was in great condition. The shipping was perfect and came right on time. The book itself is a bit difficult to read unless you have a very large vocabulary and you understand psychology. I needed the dictionary online, a lot. Other than that, everything was great - I'd recommend to anyone!

After reading book one with great plot, romance, sex, more laughs in any book read in years disappointed so short and no book 3. Debra Webb better be writing a sequel or her readers may hire the investigator in this novel to track her down and force her to write.

Great book, wish it had been longer. If you read the first one, Dirty, you can get. the gist of this one. I hope she writes more of these, a full length one next time. The characters are great and have great chemistry, you will enjoy both.

Of the more than fifty reporters covering Kennedy in Dallas, no one actually saw the assassination. And faced with a monumentally important story that was continuously breaking, most journalists had no time to verify leads or substantiate reports. Rather, they took discrete moments of their stories and turned them into one coherent narrative, blurring what was and was not "professional" about their coverage.

Through incisive analyses of the many accounts and investigations in the years since the shooting, Zelizer reveals how journalists used the assassination not just to relay the news but to address the issues they saw as central to the profession and to promote themselves as cultural authorities. Indeed, argues Zelizer, these motivations are still alive and are at the core of the controversy surrounding Oliver Stone's movie, JFK.

A former reporter for the Reuters News Agency and an assistant professor of rhetoric and communications, Zelizer asks why the news media, trained to present information in narrative form, spend so much time defending their coverage of the assassination of President Kennedy. She suggests that since no journalist in Dallas at the time actually saw the shooting, each one instead strives for acceptance as an authority in the creation of a national collective memory, which is more emotional than the journalistic story. She details this legitimizing process in an interesting and useful scholarly book that is more for media experts than Kennedy assassination groupies.

Don't be Put Off by Overuse of the Word "Discourse"

There is some very significant baby in this academese- obscurantist bathwater.

Basically this is an instiutional approach to explaining why the media got it wrong. Does the author put it like this? Not exactly. The woman needs a job!

She argues that the Kennedy Assasination took place at a key time for TV news; in 1963 the networks had just switched form a 15 minute to a half-hour broadcast. The assassination, she argues, made TV news. The later you get the more reporters and editors interjected what they were doing at the time; thier identities and the legitimacy of TV journalism itself had become married to a single bullet, even though it was much more of a shotgun wedding.

Some of the narrative desriptions of individual reporters are priceless. Zelizer does a masterful job of capturing the chaos of the telphone truck, where there was only one phone. Sometimes these narratives of direct reporter experience seem to yearn for conclusions beyone those modest ones that the professor presents.

Don't be put off by the cumbersome style of this book. It is worth reading twice. It goes far toward explaining why the Corporate Media have worked so dilligently to cast Warren Commission Sceptics in such a condescending light. Just so, those aristocratic flat-earthers!

This book is simply too dangerous to be written clearly.
