A compelling backstory for Han Solo

Every guy who's ever seen Star Wars has wanted to be Han Solo. Now, A.C. Crispin's Han Solo Trilogy fills in the backstory, and does it well.

The Paradise Snare begins with an orphaned, outcast Solo trying to make his way as a pilot. However, he soon gets hired by a cult fronting for drug dealers. What makes the book work isn't epic battles and gun fights, but how Han's relationships and friendships develop. We get a glimpse of how Han developed an affection for Wookies and his first love interest. At times, this story almost seems like a tale straight out of Charles Dickens, but it really suits Han's character.

The Hutt Gambit is filled with first encounters, including the first time Han met Chewbacca, Lando, Boba Fett, and Jabba the Hutt, as well as several characters from the Nar Shadda moon, such as Zala and Maiko, from the Star Wars: Dark Empire Trilogy. A.C. Crispin does a good job of portraying a realistically cynical Star Wars underworld. Han still seems like Han, but it's also clear his character is growing from the The Paradise Snare.

Rebel Dawn tries to bridge the gap to the original trilogy and tie up loose ends with Han and Bria's relationship. It also explains why Chewie worried Lando still held a grudge against Han. The book works, but perhaps not quite as smoothly as the first two books. Both Zala's suggestions she and Han get married and Han's pining for Bria seem a bit out of character. I did like the intrigue with the Hutts. Crispin makes them into believable mafioso types. Xizor was also well employed.

At the least, the trilogy will give you a new respect for everybody's favorite smuggler and how far he's traveled to become respectable.

Charlotte has lived in her aunt and uncle’s house since her mother died. She is treated as a poor relation. She was being courted by Edward and, one night, went too far with him. He asked to marry her, but her uncle refused. Later, it is found out that they spent the night together and she is now a fallen woman. Her aunt finds her a position as a governess and sends her away. I just couldn't understand why her uncle wouldn't allow Edward to marry her!

Now, she is a nanny to the children of Simon, Lord Herleston. All Simon can think of is bedding her. He tells her right off that he wants her as his mistress. He eventually starts a campaign to get her in his bed. He eventually gets her in his bed by coercion. She does not really agree, she is just resigned as she believes he will dismiss her as governess if she does not agree.

I had a hard time with this book. This is about a young girl being taken advantage of by both her aunt and uncle and her employer. Eventually, there is a HEA, but the route there is not the greatest. I give this 3 stars.

What a marvelous book this was. This was a page turner that kept me going until I had finished. I won't give anything away but there were twists and turns that I didn't see until later. There were strong feelings and emotions of the characters that tugged at my heart. There was mystery, danger, elements of BDSM, spanking, romance, hot sex and most of all love.

Breaking Jade is a companion to Fallocaust Book 1, meaning that the timeline of the books overlap. It focuses on the development of the relationship between the Chimera Elish and his pet Jade, as well as including chapters involving Reaver, Killian and others from Book 1.

I felt as though Quil Carter's writing has developed since Book 1, making this one an even more delightful read. The way he deals with his characters' internal struggles seems a little more mature. The intricacies of the plot are incredible and I found myself wondering how long he's been working out these books in his head.The editing is pretty good for something so long.

The sex and violence gets out of hand, so beware!

I loved this and will definitely be reading the next book.

Seriously, buy this book....read it....you will NOT be disappointed

This book was amazing, From the first few pages I was a goner...the Author took my hand and drug me down deep into his world.
I very much enjoyed Fallocaust, actually I LOVED it...and this book is an excellent companion to that, but it's also so much more. This is not Reaver's story at all, no this one is about sweet, sexy, sometimes stupid, whiny, violent, evil, twisted and beautiful little Jade.

The story of Jade takes us from the slums of Moros to the skyscrapers of Skyfall and across the desolation that is the Greywastes. The author has done a brilliant job world building, you can almost smell the rotten air in Moros, hear the devastating silence on the Wastes and feel the cold concrete that is Skyfall.No holds were barred in the writing. Its graphic, twisted, gritty,sometimes sad, sometimes happy, very dark, and completely riveting at the very root. I found all this in this story, and also I found some hope and love too. The secondary characters were just as interesting. I found myself wanting them to pop up more and more as they developed in the story alongside Jade.

Thank you to the author for creating a world with characters that are far from perfect, even thought they are all sexy as heck, these boys are beautifully flawed and twisted and I think I am a little in love with most of them :) But alas....this was over all too soon for me, I look forward to Book two and its companion book with baited breath.I know without a doubt I will not hesitate at all to plunge back into the world of the Fallocaust with both feet, and probably an assault rifle strapped to my back. Oh...and a big razor sharp bowie knife in my hand. There are some scary critters out there...Seriously, buy this book....read it....you will NOT be disappointed

I enjoyed the Fallocaust book so much that I decided to read Breaking Jade when it came out. I'm glad to say that this book contains very shocking scenes and surprises that one can expect from the author. I was also happy about the parallels between the two settings from both books, and more impressed with the fresh ideas that were introduced in Breaking Jade. I fell in love with the characters and can say that while I am a casual reader by nature, this book like Fallocaust grabbed my attention very well. Jade is an exciting character and the challenges that he faces remind us of many struggles we face with the mind and body through our own experiences. I highly recommend this book!!

Cooking smart

This book has come in so handy since we have had to make lifestyle changes due to high cholesterol. The best thing about this book is that it uses pretty basic ingredients that you can find at any grocery store. Other books I have with low cholesterol recipes had odd ingredients that I just won't keep in stock normally. The recipes offered by the AHA cookbook identify with "real", everyday people making the lifestyle transition much easier than I originally thought. The final outcome: Palate tantalizing dishes appropriate for the whole family.

GREAT recipes!

My husband was put on a low-fat diet so I picked up this cookbook because I liked that it was by the American Heart Association. Every recipe I've made has been delicious! (with the exception of one dessert which was just okay, but low-fat desserts are tough) I will say though, that this cookbook can't be called quick and easy. As someone else mentioned, I have to plan in advance so I can pick up all the ingredients at the grocery store. You also have to make sure to allow plenty of time for cooking the meal. Nothing has been very fast, although it's nothing overly complicated for this basic chef.

All-in-all, I would recommend this cookbook to anyone trying to eat healthier as I think it's an easier transition when the food tastes good, and these recipes definitely do!

Excellent book

I first bought an earlier edition of this book a few years ago when I decided it was time to lose weight. It made cooking for a family of 4 super easy. The meals are delicious and healthy...although there are a few recipes that didnt fit my taste.

At first, you do end up spending more at the grocery store to buy all the new spices & a few new ingredients, but eventually, the cost tapers down. Our weekly grocery bill averaged around $150.00 for a family of 4 adults which included 3 meals a day with snacks. So, I have to say that it is pretty cost efficient as well.

By cooking directly from this book, eating about 1600 claories a day, and walking on the treadmill 20 minutes a day, I went from 286 lbs down to about 215 lbs in 3 months. At that point, I got a gym membership and cut back on my calories just a little bit more (down to 1500). I am now 138 lbs and have been able to keep it off so far.

This book definately gave me a good kickstart to to getting my weight down (and giving my heart a break). I would recommend it in a heartbeat!!!

A Real Christmas Story

Just about everyone has heard of the Secret Santa tradition. One where we get together give gifts anonymously, and throw an office party. But this Secret Santa was something really special and very unique. They reached out to a family falling apart. A family that didnt seem like it was going to survive through the Christmas season without some very serious emotional fallout.

When gifts start showing up at their doorstep (along with cute little verses that I lvoed), the mom is initially quite upset. Upset in a way that I really didn't understand until about half way through the story. These gifts from strangers brought a holiday to her that she was trying desperately to erase from her life. A holiday that brought so many bittersweet memories with it.

Thankfully, her youngest won't let her throw the gifts away, and even manages to make a game of trying to catch Santa in the act. Slowly but surely these gifts - one for each of the 12 days before Christmas - begin to draw the family not only into the holiday spirit, but it brings them back together. For the first time in a long time, they find themselves working on a common project - a who-dun-it (in a good way) type of mystery.

In the end, things are still not normal, but the family has learned to come together to deal with all the things life throws at them. They have also built some amazing memories together that they continue to share through the years. This is what a Christmas story should be all about.

Absolutely love this book. I actually read this from borrowing it from a friend and loved it so much decided to purchase it for my sister for her birthday. Such a good book and not so long that you can't actually read it in a short time. If your a avid reader could probably read it in a day. I think anyone could benefit from this book for inspiration and encouragement.
