This is the HARDEST book I have ever had to review! EVER!!! I’M NOT KIDDING either!!! I’m usually really easy going when it comes to my book expectations.”
I have so many mixed feelings! Why? I expected to get onto the rollercoaster, have a fun ride, and depart safely. That did not happen! I was tossed about like a rag doll and felt like I was going to fall out of my seat at any moment.
If this is how you like to feel while reading a book, then this is the book for you. I laughed, blushed, smiled, jumped with joy, snickered, gasped, cried, sobbed, yelled, cursed, and felt the overwhelming need to slap various characters in the face. If I could have jumped into Bella Roccaforte’s story, I would have in order to kick some major hunter, wolf, and human ASS! That's right! I don’t think I’ve ever been so frustrated and heart broken while reading a book in my entire life. Some people made me so angry I wanted to throw my iPad at my nearest victim. HAHA… TAKE THAT! Then I realized I would be throwing my baby and thought better of it.
My thoughts (spoiler alert):
• Claire is a geeky/fierce kickass heroine!
• Cole… he made me want to spit venom into his eye and toss him off a cliff
• The boys… I loved them at first and enjoyed the witty banter between the group. As the story progressed, I later wanted to stab them in the back with an axe after how they treated Claire.
• This book is full of evil/frustrating secrets! BEWARE!!!!!!!
• The “I Love you” was way to fast and made me have a bad taste in my mouth from then on. I think its just because I obviously did not like Cole one bit. What I think you/I need to remember is that this is the first “season” of this book. I don’t think it’s meant to be about Cole and Claire… I think it’s about Claire as an individual and her journey living as a hunter. Heads up, she makes a lot of mistakes. I have a feeling another love interest, hopefully a real/true/honest/good one, will be present in the next season.
• There was a lot of sex talk, but the act itself is not described. I like both clean and not so clean books. This book just seemed incongruent. I’m probably not explaining myself at all, but I just feel like there was a lot of talk and then when it did happen the scene would go completely dark and I was left with the feeling of “did IT happen or not” (scratches head… few pages in) “Ooooo… so they did do IT.” And when IT did happen, Claire was so overcome with emotion (rolls eyes) that she wanted to jump his bones way way way to fast! Ugh!!!!
• Heads up… a lot of people die! DO NOT GET ATTACHED!
Obviously, this book took me out of my comfort zone, and yet I still enjoyed it. If you had told me an in depth synopsis before hand, I probably would not have read it. However, now that I am 100% involved, I am anxious/hesitant about reading season 2. Even though this is not my “go to” kind of book, I’m glad I tried it.

Such an amazing story

Confession: I never followed a series. This was the first series that I EVER followed. It surprised me, captivated me, and I found myself always needing to read more. I read each installment within an hour of their release time. I stayed up through the night worrying about the characters, trying to predict the plot, analyzing the behaviors or reactions of the characters. This series was an emotional roller coaster, and I enjoyed every moment of it. I cant tell you how many times I cried, or how many times I started screaming at certain characters in the book (so much that my fiance would nudge me with his elbow to keep it down while he slept). The author is truly amazing in her ability to build a unique bond between her characters and her readers. I felt like I was apart of the story, that I could immerse myself in the lore she painted. I am really grateful for this series. The plot was beautifully crafted and enthralling. I cant wait to see if there is a second season, because I seriously cant get enough of this story.

Mixed Feelings

I started out really liking this serial, but as it continued I found that I had mixed feelings. We begin with Claire as a young girl who goes through undeniable tragedy. Claire is not a human, she is a hunter. The ones that she hunts are werewolves who have become sickened by the moon. On her father's dying breath he tells Claire that she should stay away from wolves for her greater good, and all I can say is that Claire should have listened. From there, the real story begins. We go to Claire present-day, she has a house full of wolves. I don't think that they were bad or anything, but I think it would have saved her a lot of pain in the end if she only would have listened to her father. Claire really does love her wolves, she calls them 'her boys', and she acts as a mother hen to them all. When she meets another wolf named Cole, I think that's when things begin to spiral out of control. Cole is a player, but he did seem to have real feelings for Claire, but in the end she basically screwed herself. She makes too many false presumptions, and is quite stubborn. At times, I felt like I wanted to smack her, and make her see sense. I really liked the first half of this serial, but the other half, not so much. Because of her own decisions, she set herself up for misery. I really wish things could have gone differently. And then, she blames Cole for everything that happens, but she goes back to him anyway. I do not understand her completely. I'm going to stop there because if I go on I will spoil the whole book.
